Our pool-side “palapa” is a perfect place to relax and enjoy morning coffee or evening margaritas. The ever-present breeze off the Caribbean Sea is “muy bueno”!  Warning, warning: do not jump from upper terrace into the pool!

Welcome to a Special Place!

Playa del Carmen is a special place.

We can’t put our finger on why we love it here... It could be the indescribably magical colors of the sea: blue, azul, esmeralda, emerald, turquoise, or turquesa. (No one word cannot describe it!)  Or maybe it’s the beautiful creamy sand or the warm Caribbean breezes...

Or maybe it’s the amazing diversity of the people who live here...  indigenous Mayas who have come from throughout the Yucatan peninsula to build the boom town; old hippies who have made millions selling land they bought many years ago to “get away from it all”;  entrepreneurial Mexicans from the north; and Italians, Argentines, French, Israelis, Americans... all adding spice and flavor to this Caribbean melting pot.

It could be the ever-changing nature and pace of life here... at one moment slow and easy; the next, busy and booming.  Luxury villas sit adjacent to humble casas where roosters wake up everyone in the neighborhood.

Or it could be the amazing variety of food... You name it, Playa has it all: from local tacquerias, cockleterias, fruterias, paleterias, and cucina economicas to gourmet restaurants of every ethnic flavor.  And what’s the best thing about Playa restaurants?  They are open-air... the way restaurants should be.

Whatever our reasons for loving Playa, we do love it!  And we think you will too.
